Baja Jan & Feb

I left the beautiful, cold, Long Beach peninsula with freezing mud puddles Jan 7th and arrived in Loreto, Mexico Jan 8th to Cold, Windy, did I say cold? 60* weather.  Niece, Lona arrived on Sunday.  We had a nice visit during the short two weeks she was here.  While she was here it warmed during the day and I felt comfortable enough to forgo the long pants to knee pants.  Much better!

I have discovered a new way to enjoy the water just out our front door.  Canoeing with Lona.  (Wayne has been trying to convince me for some time!)  It’s not as tippy as a kayak and Opal can come with me instead of standing on the beach barking, “I am alone here!  Come back and get me!”

I have been to the Sunday farmer’s market twice.  (More than that now.  Every Sunday.)  It is always a fun thing to do.  Besides getting nice fruits, vegetables, meats, & viewing endless tents of new & used clothing, dishes, tools, etc; it is also a social outing.  Meeting, greeting & visiting with friends and acquaintances that haven’t been seen for awhile.

Having good intentions of posting the above shortly after writing it, I again was sidetracked!  Now to continue.

The last 3 weeks have been filled with a couple of nice dinners in town, a birthday potluck for one of our campers, Super Bowl potluck, a good by gathering at the restaurant down the road for Jan & Sy who had to head back to Canada, AND a trip across the peninsula to go whale watching.

I have also finished a quilt that my sister Marilyn made the top for me.  It will be donated to the quilting club in Tripui.  They make & donate quilts to local students who excel in their studies.

And just to keep busy, I made a girl’s crib quilt from material given to me by Maryann’s mother before she passed away.  She was an avid quilter.  Now I need to find a family with a new baby or young girl to donate it to.

Next week I will get ready for my annual trip to Florida for an enjoyable visit with Aunt Ev & her little Rascal, a toy poodle who is now two years old.

Just to pass the time, we had a Paella potluck here on the beach on Valentine’s Day that turned out very well  Friday we will have a dinner in town at Domingo’s Steak House, and a Saturday Brunch with the Hidden Port Yacht Club! No sitting around for us old fogeys!!  Too much to do!

Until next time, I leave you with one of our rare, beautiful sunsets.
Stay safe, happy, & healthy!
