Most of October was spent with Mike setting up camp and me staying out of the way! Unless of course an extra hand is needed.
Junk Under the Awning |
next was getting the outdoor Garage tent up and ready. This is used for Mon, Thurs, Sat, and especially Sun Football watching!! In addition, it is the outdoor kitchen, storage, potluck, or whatever else is needed doing there.
Next of importance is setting the Pila. This is a large fresh water storage tank that Mike keeps full of water that he hauls in barrels from the well located a mile or so away.
Small Boat |
And then it’s time to get his fishing boats (yes that is plural!) ready.
Big Boat |
I keep busy by quilting
the last of 3 quilts for the cousin in Ohio.
I also drive out to the small tienda (store) for internet and groceries
every couple days. Occasionally I will
make the trip to town about 12 miles north of here.
Mike took me to town to
our favorite steak house for my birthday.
We were also joined by 10 or 11 of our friends. We all had a great visit and as always the
food was delicious. AND I finally had my
Rum & Fresca!! 2 of them to be
exact!
Finished the last Lone
Star quilt for cousin Loretta. I will
wash it and mail it when I go to Florida in February.
Back & Part of Front Design |
We made a trip south of
LaPaz to visit friends at Aqua Amarga and pickup Mike’s 20’ cargo trailer he
bought from a man in El Sargento. I was also to pickup prescription sunglasses
for a friend here on the beach. As we
planned on being gone 3 days, I packed very light. You would think I know better by now. Every time I do, something goes wrong! Maryann’s glasses were not ready and the
cargo trailer still had things in it.
One being a large & very heavy safe.
So OK, we stay a few days longer.
Well this is probably the only time I had ONE pair of shoes with
me. While I had these shoes for several
years I had only worn them half a dozen times.
The material up the sides of the heels was disintegrating as was the
soles. I was leaving chunks of black
material everywhere! So Patrice took me
to LaPaz where I was able to buy a new pair of flat sandals. I wanted some anyway but hated to throw the
others in the garbage as they had been a little expensive. Oh Well!!
I am sewing pictures on the
last few squares for Connie’s quilt. It
is such fun to create the pictures. And
of course some are better than others. I
finished the last of the squares Thanksgiving day. Now I shall have to find new projects to keep
me busy!
We had a very nice
Thanksgiving potluck that was attended by about 30 of us camped on the beach
and one boat person. There were two Turkeys,
Dressing & Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Salads, & Desserts. WAY too much to eat!! We have lots of good cooks here and
everything was delicious. I cooked a
third turkey which did not get done on time.
Mike had switched propane tanks on the trailer but forgot to tighten the
fitting that carries propane to the stove!
I lost an hour cooking time before finding my oven was off. But it all worked out in the end.
Hugs & Love to All til
next time. Patty.
